Occupational Therapy

After a long hospital or facility stay, patients may find it difficult to adjust to the changes in the recovery setting as they go along the process of recuperation. The goal of occupational therapy is to help these clients regain their lost occupational skills and promote full recovery by reintroducing them first-hand to the skills per se.

This doesn’t mean that the clients are engaged to the full spectrum of tasks. A comprehensive assessment will be conducted first before the rehabilitation is put into operation. On the initial parts of implementation, tasks are limited to very basic occupational skills. Once there prerequisite skills are mastered, they move on to a more complex activity while gradually toning the body to the effort it is required to exert to get the tasks done. This way, no coercion is made, tasks are learned slowly, but deliberately, and the body achieves full recovery at a specified duration of therapy.

Occupational therapy is highly preferred by many clients who seek to restore their self-help skills and independence to the maximum.
The focus of occupational therapy are the following:

  • Assessment and Evaluation of Health and Basic Skills
  • Planning and Implementation of Therapeutic Programs
  • Energy Management and Conservation
  • Restoration of Sensory Functions
  • Re-education of Basic Living Skills
  • Home Exercise Program
  • Patient Education
  • Work Simplification
